More than 80% of global ammonia demand is used as a raw material for the production of nitrogen fertilizer, which is essential for European agriculture. To meet this demand, around 180 million tons of ammonia were produced and processed in the industry in 2021 from fossil fuels. Ammonia plays an important role in food production, but its production is responsible for more than 2% of total global greenhouse gas emissions.

This is mainly due to the fact that conventional brown and grey ammonia production uses fossil fuels as feedstock. The aim of groupe curie is to develop ammonia without fossil fuels. We run and improve cleantech chemistry with zero emissions and zero waste! Systematic, sustainable fertilizers based on green ammonia play an important role in making crop yields and food production fair to all and maintaining them at high levels without harming the environment.
